The 1st time I went to the caverns was on a whim to photograph it - I've been back several times since. My son LOVES to take the "Wild Tour" (means YOU WILL GET MUDDY and DIRTY). It's amazing the history associated with this place. The caverns were used as a hospital during the civil war. In depth history can be found on their website. They have a great campground (first hand experience with my son's Boy Scout troop) and the cabin on the property is amazing - built in 1777. Local archives back up the claims.
